In 2025, Ascension’s SVdP Conference assisted 80 families within our parish
boundaries with such needs as food, utilities, rent/motel, furniture/appliances/household
items, clothing, auto loan payments, auto repairs, auto fuel, transportation, child care
and legal fees.

Who We Are
The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) is to witness God’s love by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering. In 2025, we directly affected lives over 14,000 times within and outside our parish boundaries.

Blessed Teresa Calcutta First Communion: Assistance to offset costs for parents.

Toiletries Drive: For Ascension Food Pantry and St Nicholas Food Pantry.

Shoe Drive: Collect shoes for St Vincent DePaul Church for the homeless.

Blanket Drive: Collect blankets for St Vincent DePaul Church for the homeless.

Christmas Family Adoptions: Provide food, gifts, and gift cards to Chesterfield Neighbors-In-Need.
Ongoing Activities
St Nicholas Food Pantry: (St Louis City): Every Monday, Ascension workers pick-up food items from various donors in the St. Louis area and deliver to our food pantry located downtown at St Nicholas Church near 18th and Washington Ave. Goods are then distributed to Neighbors in Need residing in 4 city zip codes.
Ascension Food Pantry: (Ascension): Every Friday and Tuesday, workers pick-up food items from various donors in the St. Louis area and deliver to our food pantry located on the Ascension campus in the basement of the Little Church. Goods are then distributed to Neighbors in Need in Chesterfield and surrounding areas.
Ascension SVDP Conference Meetings: (Ascension) Our Conference meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 9am-11am in the Parish Hall. We review our last month’s activities and plan for future activities. Gospel reflections and prayers are also included.
Meals at Peter and Paul Jugan Community Center: (St Louis City)
2nd Tuesday of each month, 3pm-6pm meals are prepared in the Multi-Purpose Room kitchen and delivered to the Peter and Paul Community Center in North St Louis City.
Meals at St. Vincent de Paul Church: (St Louis City) 4th Wednesday of each month, 4pm-6pm meals are prepared at St Vincent de Paul Church in the Soulard area. Meals are then served to homeless and needy men, women and families in the area.
Breakfast at Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Grade School: (Ferguson) 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month (during the school year), 6:30am-9:00am breakfasts are prepared and served to grade school students.
Neighbors-In-Need Assistance: (Chesterfield) Continually throughout the year, help families in need of assistance with utilities, food, housing, auto, clothing, furniture, medical, financial seminars. Also, refer families to other St Louis support agencies.
Vincentian Resource Sharing: (St Louis City, North St Louis County) Monthly, assist other conferences with assessment of Neighbor-In-Need requests and recommend assistance to the governing conference.
Blessing Bags: (Chesterfield) Monthly prepare bags of assorted snacks and toiletries for distribution to the homeless.
Friendship Cards: (Chesterfield) Prepare and deliver greeting cards to the elderly in local nursing homes for holidays.
Participation in other charitable and parish ministries: Faith in Action, 40 Days for Life, Social Justice Commission, Fair Ascension.
