Most Wednesday 1:00-4:00pm
The Quilting and Sewing Group designed and made the 100 Anniversary of Ascension Quilt that hangs in the MPR. They have also made and donated a quilt for the Anniversary Gala fundraiser, made altar linens, helped repair our priest’s vestments, and made items available for sales and raffles every year at Fair Ascension (all profits go to altar needs at Ascension). They have offered several sewing classes, teaching men, women, and children how to sew. The group has also taught private sewing lessons.
The Quilting and Sewing Group has made and donated around 400 drawstring bags that help our homeless population and abused women and their children here in St. Louis. Assistance League of St. Louis helps distribute the completed bags.
We have assisted Ascension School students with community service projects, scouting projects, school plays, and window coverings for the school’s classroom doors.
Donations of machines, fabrics, and notions make it possible for the group to offer affordable classes and provide the necessary supplies to make the cloth bags to help our community.
People in the group attend the sessions that work with their personal commitments. Sewing is a great opportunity for evangelizing. We meet every one wherever they are on their path to heaven. People of all ages and all backgrounds continue to form deep and valued friendships.
