Why Give?
Everything we have is a gift from God. God calls us to be grateful and generous with all of our gifts, including our treasure. Our faith teaches us this through the Scriptures:
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with first fruits…” Proverbs 3:9
“How shall I make a return to the Lord for all the good He has done for me?” Psalm 116:12
In gratitude, we are called to give to God from our first fruits. That means creating a plan for giving to His Church. Throwing a last-minute donation into the collection basket time and again only leaves us frustrated. Having a plan, we can better do our part to share the gifts that God has given us.
“From the very beginning, Christians have brought, along with the bread and wine for the Eucharist, gifts to share with those in need” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1351). Our gifts of treasure express not only our desire to help those in need but also our generosity to God.
“When faith does not reach the pocket, it is not genuine faith.” -Pope Francis
Best Practices in Grateful and Generous Giving:
- Create and maintain a household budget
- Plan your giving annually
- Use electronic offering (Online Giving)
- Understand that tithing literally means to give 10 percent of your gross income. Suggested amounts: 5 percent to the Parish, 2 percent to the Archdiocese and 3 percent to charities that serve the greater community
How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?
Once you complete the online registration form, the contribution amount you specify will automatically be transferred from your bank account to the church's bank account.
When will my contribution be deducted from my account?
Your electronic contribution will be debited on the date you specify on the donation form.
Can I put different amounts in offerings and have all of them withdrawn at different times?
You can set up to contribute to different offerings at different times; HOWEVER you will have to do each one separately. You will receive a receipt for each one.
What if I change bank accounts?
Login and update your account information.
Is Online Giving risky?
It's less risky than writing checks or bringing cash to church. Electronic contributions cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed and have an extremely high rate of accuracy.

Givebutter Fee Information
There is an option if you would like to cover the processing fee in order to make sure your entire donation goes directly to our parish. If you do not want to cover the fee, click “edit,” next to the Tip option, and you can choose not to cover it.
Also, you have the option to add a tip to support Givebutter. They do not charge Ascension any platform fees, so this tip helps support their operating costs and allows them to continue to not charge our parish any platform fees. You can choose a suggested tip amount or click “other,” and type in a different amount or type in 0 to not leave a tip.
