Ascension's Vocations Committee is committed to the practice of praying for an increase in vocations as well as cultivating a culture of ongoing mindfulness and prayers for an increase in vocations in our parish.

Vocations Chalice Program

Have you received the blessing of hosting the chalice and praying for vocations in your home?

The consecrated chalice is a tangible reminder of the special intention and critical need to pray for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, as well as for holy marriages and families. We need to pray for more priests for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. If the current trend of priest ordinations continues at its low rate, then by 2027 we will have the same number of priests as we do parishes. That averages out to be one priest per parish! We need more priests to provide the sacraments and the grace of God to us. Please take advantage of the Vocation Chalice opportunity to pray for more priests. 

How Does it work?

  1. The chalice will be presented to volunteers at the 8am daily Mass (or any of the daily Masses) on Thursdays
  2. The volunteers take the chalice home and pray for holy vocations all week, and can use the prayers provided with the chalice.
  3. The chalice is returned to the Main Church on the following Wednesday

All singles, couples, and families of the parish are invited! If you are homebound and would like the chalice brought to you, please know you are welcome to pray and participate that way.
